The Prophetic Sayings About Victories in Al-Sham (The Levant)
The Blessings of Al-Sham:
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said:"O Allah, bless us in our Sham and our Yemen."
The companions asked, "And in our Najd?" The Prophet replied, "There will appear earthquakes and tribulations, and from there rises the horn of Satan."
(Narrated by Al-Bukhari)This hadith highlights the unique blessings and divine favor granted to Al-Sham, marking it as a special land in Islam.
The Victorious Group in Al-Sham:
The Prophet ﷺ also said:"A group of my Ummah will continue to uphold the truth. They will be victorious and unharmed by those who oppose them until Allah's command comes while they remain in that state."
In another narration: "And they will be in Al-Sham."
(Narrated by Al-Bukhari and Muslim)This indicates that Al-Sham will always be home to a steadfast and victorious group defending Islam.
The Prophecy of Conquering Al-Sham:
The Prophet ﷺ foretold the conquest of Al-Sham, which occurred during the era of the Rightly Guided Caliphs. He said:"Count six signs before the Hour: my death, then the conquest of Jerusalem, then a plague that will afflict you and kill you in great numbers as the plague of sheep..."
(Narrated by Al-Bukhari)The conquest of Jerusalem and Al-Sham was a significant milestone in Islamic history, fulfilling this prophecy.
Future Victories in Al-Sham
Al-Sham as the Center of Major Battles:
The Prophet ﷺ mentioned that Al-Sham will be the site of significant battles and events in the end times. He said:"The stronghold of the believers will be in Al-Sham."
(Narrated by Ahmad and authenticated by Al-Albani)This indicates that Al-Sham will remain a central location for Islam's strength and resilience.
The Return of Jesus (Isa, Peace Be Upon Him) in Al-Sham:
One of the major signs of the Hour is the descent of Jesus (peace be upon him) in Al-Sham. The Prophet ﷺ said:"Jesus, the son of Mary, will descend at the white minaret to the east of Damascus..."
(Narrated by Muslim)This highlights Al-Sham’s spiritual and eschatological significance as a land where truth will triumph.
Conclusion
The Prophetic traditions emphasize the unique status of Al-Sham as a blessed and significant land for Muslims. These narrations underscore both its historical importance, such as the conquest of Jerusalem, and its future role in the Ummah's victories, including the end-time battles and the return of Jesus. Al-Sham continues to hold a profound place in Islamic history and faith, serving as a reminder of Allah’s blessings and the resilience of the believers.
